My Second Year Report (PDF) is now available. [1 August 2007]

The guys from Slashdot posted my question on 21 October 2006: Cultural Influences in Computing Technologies?

The current status of my research can be found in the section: The Socio-cultural Construction of Ubiquitous Computing

I'm interested in Human-Computer Interaction and Ubiquitous Computing. Specifically, I'm interested in the impact of Western computing technologies in non-Western cultures. I want to explore assumptions built within current Western computing technologies and how other cultures are affected by them. I'm interested in understanding what other cultures pursue when building computing technologies and what lessons we (in the Western world) could learn from those alternative views - if any - of technology to continue developing Ubiquitous Computing.

My First Year Report better explores these issues.
